Pop & Bang on demand. For ten brands.
The special tool for the Audi RS3 has become the sound and launch platform for Bosch and Continental: pop & bang in sport mode, in DSG S or permanent, plus exhaust flap, idle rev limiter, shift bang and launch control. The tool detects ECU and software version from the file content, transfers the matching template from more than 2,300 pop files proven in real cars from our own database, and shows every changed location before you export. Now for Bosch MG1, MED17.1.x, MED17.7.x, MEVD17.2.x, Continental Simos 18/19 and Bosch MED9.1.2.

Feature set
One tool for everything to do with sound and launch. Each function is only offered where it is verified for the identified software version – anything that does not fit reliably stays greyed out.
Pop & Bang in sport mode
Crackles and bangs on overrun only when the Sport or Dynamic drive mode is active. In comfort mode the car is as discreet as it was from the factory.
DSG S or permanent activation
Instead of the drive mode, Pop & Bang switches via selector lever position S or is permanently active – depending on which verified templates exist for the software version.
Exhaust flap
Flap 100% open so the Pop & Bang gets out freely. As a separate add-on, on its own or together with Pop & Bang.
Idle rev limiter and extras
Raise the rev limit at standstill – for sound checks, demonstrations and the dyno. On selected versions also “pop louder while driving” or “pop louder at standstill”, and on Bosch MG1 “revert camshaft optimisation”. Each extra only where a proven template covers the version; the driving maps stay untouched.
Shift bang
A short, dry bang on DSG upshifts – the shift bang known from motorsport.
Launch control
Own ignition value and two intervention thresholds for standing starts. On its own or together with Pop & Bang, depending on what is verified for the software version.
Two pop stages and VIN key
Pop & Bang in one or two separate stages, activated via sport button or cruise-control stalk. Newly installed modules receive the key of the target VIN.
Fine-tuning with character
Ignition angle on overrun from 0 to −49.5° with a character indicator from moderate to extreme, rpm window up to 9,000 rpm and the pop & bang duration in seconds wherever the time base is confirmed.
ECUs, brands and models
The tool identifies the ECU family from the file content, never from the file name. Same software version: the proven template is applied exactly. Different version: transfer via the unchanged map context or via the family's consensus template – the core maps that many proven pairs share. Uncertain matches are rejected rather than guessed.
ECU families
Brands and models
Models are examples from our template library. Whether your software version fits is shown by the tool right after you open the file – free of charge.
How you work with it
Open the file
Drop the file onto the card. The tool identifies the ECU family, software version and existing modules from the contents; the file name does not matter. You then see straight away which functions are verified for your version.
Choose functions
Pop & bang with activation in sport mode, in DSG S or permanent – on MED9.1.2 via sport button or cruise control stalk. Tick exhaust flap, shift bang, idle rev limiter, louder pop or, on Bosch MG1, revert camshaft optimisation – each only where a proven template covers the version. Launch control needs no switch.
Set the values
Ignition angle on overrun, rpm window and – on MED9.1.2, MED17.7.x and Simos 18 – the duration in seconds, with sliders or number fields. The character indicator shows how hard it bangs. Newly inserted MED9 modules also take the target VIN.
Review and export
“Review changes” runs all cross-checks and lists every changed position with address, before and after. The export package contains the result file, the unchanged input file, the report and notes. Correct the checksums afterwards with the Checksum Tool.
Features in detail
Identification from the contents
Family, software version and existing modules are recognised by project ID, calibration header and instruction patterns, not by the file name. Relocated modules and changed calibrations do not get in the way.
Templates from real files
Around 900 pop templates from more than 2,300 pairs proven in real cars from our own database. Same version = exactly the proven file, different version = transfer via map context or the family's consensus template. Proven files take precedence over new ones.
Cross-checks instead of gut feeling
Only bytes that the template also changes are written. Every position must lie within the permitted range, the context of every map must be unchanged, and no add-on may overwrite another.
Combine add-ons freely
Add Pop & Bang, exhaust flap, stationary rev limiter and shift bang individually. The result file name lists every selected function – traceable even months later.
Preview and report
Every changed position appears in the preview with address, before and after. The report is included in the export package as a file.
In the browser, also on Windows
Your file never leaves your device. The same interface is available as a Windows program for a workstation without a browser.
Roadmap
Map module for Bosch and Continental
Bosch MG1, MED17.1.x, MED17.7.x, MEVD17.2.x, Continental Simos 18 and Simos 19: pop & bang in sport mode, in DSG S or permanent, exhaust flap, idle rev limiter and shift bang – learned from more than 2,300 pop files proven in real cars, ten brands, around 900 templates. Plus Bosch MED9.1.2 with one- or two-stage pop, launch control and VIN key. Online and as a Windows program.
More Bosch MED9.x
More MED9.x versions with pop & bang, launch control and VIN key following the MED9.1.2 pattern – pop activation via sport button or cruise control stalk.
New templates and versions
Every new proven pop file from our database becomes a template, and the consensus templates per family grow with it – so versions without their own reference file match too. Updates go into the same tool at no extra charge.
Technical data
Who is the tool for?
Tuners and file creators
Create Pop & Bang, flap and launch control for Audi, VW, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and more yourself instead of ordering every file individually from a file service.
Motorsport teams
Adjust values for the track and keep every change documented.
Workshops with a dyno
Sound check at standstill, compare variants and demonstrate them to the customer – load two files, see the differences, adjust the parameters.

Frequently asked questions
Is this approved for public roads?
No. Pop & Bang, launch control, exhaust flap and stationary rev limit adjustment are not approved for public road traffic. A file modified this way may only be used for testing and motorsport purposes on closed tracks. The tool points this out in several places.
Which ECUs are supported?
Bosch MG1 (CS201, CS003, CS024, CS049, CS008, CS002, CS111, CP002, CP007), Bosch MED17.1.x, MED17.7.x and MEVD17.2.x, Continental Simos 18 and Simos 19, plus Bosch MED9.1.2 – covering Audi, VW, Seat, Cupra, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborghini, BMW, Mini and Mercedes-AMG. More Bosch MED9.x will follow shortly. Whether your software version matches is shown right after opening the file.
What is the difference between sport mode, DSG S and permanent?
In sport mode it only bangs when Sport or Dynamic is selected – in everyday driving the car stays quiet. DSG S links Pop & Bang to selector lever position S. In permanent mode Pop & Bang is always active. The tool only offers the activations for which verified templates exist for the software version.
How reliable is the transfer to other software versions?
With the same version the proven template is applied exactly. With other versions the tool locates each pop map via its unchanged context; if no single template matches, the family's consensus template with the core maps from many proven pairs steps in. Only unambiguous matches anchored on both sides are used, and only bytes the template itself changes are written. If something does not match safely, the tool refuses rather than guessing.
Is the checksum corrected?
No, the result file carries PRUEFSUMME_OFFEN in its name. Correct it before writing with the Checksum Tool or your checksum module. That keeps it clear what the Pop & Launch Tool changed and what the checksum did.
What happens to my file?
Nothing is uploaded. Identification, settings and export run entirely in your browser or in the Windows program. The portal only receives a usage report with file name and result.
Do I need the vehicle identification number?
Only with Bosch MED9.1.2 when a module is newly installed: then the target VIN is required because the modules carry a VIN key. The key changes neither the stored vehicle VIN nor the immobiliser. The map module for MG1, MED17, MEVD17 and Simos needs no VIN.
Do new ECUs and add-ons cost extra?
No. New families and add-ons arrive in the same tool via update. Billing stays per export package – or included with the Tool Pass and the IntelliTun subscription with tools.
Where do the templates come from?
From our own database: more than 2,300 pairs of original file and pop file that were driven exactly like that in real cars. From these the tool has learned around 900 templates and the consensus templates per family. Inside the tool, templates appear under neutral vehicle names only.
