FRM TOOL · ONLINE + WINDOWS

Lights out, module silent? The FRM can be repaired.

A faulty footwell module in BMW and MINI E-series models knocks out lights, window lifters and indicators. The cause is usually a damaged EEPROM area in the processor, not the hardware. The FRM Tool reads the D-Flash, reconstructs the EEPROM data from it and writes it back, directly from the browser with USBDM or an ESP32. With an illustrated guide for every step.

How you work with it

01

Choose FRM type

Select vehicle and module type. The guide shows removal, processor and the four connection points for BDM with a photo.

02

Read D-Flash

Connect the programmer, check the voltage, read three times. The tool compares the reads and only accepts matching data.

03

Generate EEPROM

The EEPROM file is reconstructed from the D-Flash. Partition and data area are checked, the result is displayed.

04

Write and test

Set the partition, write the EEPROM, fit the module. Lights, window lifters and indicators work again, the coding is preserved.

Features in detail

Repair instead of replacement

The original module stays in the vehicle, coding and vehicle data are preserved. No new part, no activation by the manufacturer.

Programmer in the browser

USBDM adapter via WebUSB or an ESP32 board via Web Serial, directly from Chrome or Edge. No download, no additional software.

Illustrated workshop guide

114 photos per FRM type: removal, opening the housing, connection points, measuring voltage, reading and writing. For repair without an adapter board (soldering) and with a BDM board.

Safe reading

Three reads, comparison, only then continue. A loose contact is detected before it does any damage.

Windows with setup

The Windows version comes with the USBDM driver. Install, connect, get started.

Repair on request

Do not want to solder yourself? Send us the module. We repair it and send it back, price on request.

Who is the tool for?

Independent workshops

FRM failures are a common fault on E-series models. With the tool, that becomes a one-hour job instead of a new part.

Automotive electronics and coders

Read, reconstruct, write in one workflow, with checks at every stage.

BMW specialists

Coding and vehicle data are preserved, the vehicle stays original.

Frequently asked questions

What hardware do I need?

A USBDM adapter or an ESP32 board, four wires to the module and a power supply. We recommend suitable devices in the guide.

Can it be done without soldering?

With a BDM adapter board, yes. Without a board, the four points are soldered, the photos show exactly where.

Is the coding preserved?

Yes. The EEPROM data is reconstructed from the D-Flash of your own module, nothing is taken from another module.

Which modules are not yet covered?

We are testing variants with a different processor one by one. If your type is missing, ask us before you start.

Can I send in the module?

Yes. We repair it using the same procedure and send it back. Price and turnaround on request.

Still have questions? We usually reply on the same working day. Get in touch ↗
