After every change to a file, checksums and CVN have to be recalculated, otherwise the ECU will not start or will log a fault. The Checksum Tool finds the checksum tables in the file, checks every area and corrects it byte for byte. You do not need an original file for this.

One click rewrites all sums and the CVN word. Signature areas remain unchanged.

The corrected file is ready immediately. To double-check, you can have it checked again: all green.
Features in detail
Checksum tables from the file
Start address, end address, sum and complement are read from the file, not from fixed offsets. That is why software versions we have not yet seen individually work as well.
CVN block
The correction word of the CVN block is set so that the block sum matches the target value again, 16 or 32 bit depending on the software version.
Signature left untouched
On signed ECUs the tool only corrects the checksums and leaves the signature area unchanged, just as professional flashing tools expect.
Header instead of guesswork
On Bosch MD1 the tool follows the pointers in the file header. That way the sums end up in the right place, even where other tools write beside it.
Check report
For each area you see addresses, old and new sum. So you immediately recognise which areas your change has touched.
Online and Windows
The same calculation in the workspace and in the Windows version, checked against the same reference files.

Frequently asked questions
Which families are covered?
Simos 10, Bosch EDC17 and MED17 with Tricore processor and Bosch MD1CP001. Every further family only goes online once the test run against reference pairs is 100 % correct. Send us sample pairs of your family and we will add it.
Do I need the original file?
No. The checksum tables are in the file itself, the tool reads them and recalculates.
What about signed ECUs?
On RSA-signed ECUs only the checksum is corrected, the signature area remains unchanged. Whether your flashing method bypasses the signature depends on tool and ECU.
Does the tool recognise my family automatically?
Yes, from the file header and the checksum table. If nothing matching is found, the tool says so clearly instead of guessing.
Is there a Windows version?
Yes, with the same calculation. It is included in the Workshop Package.
